Vehicle Damage Documentation

Exhibit-A provides vehicle damage documentation by utilizing both conventional documentation methods and advanced methodology utilizing a reflectorless total station depending upon your needs. We provide exemplar vehicle documentation and scaled vehicle drawings showing crush measurements for damage severity. These same scaled vehicles can be incorporated into our site diagrams for an accurate analysis and/or courtroom exhibit.

Traditional Methods

Vehicles are documented with photographs, notes and measurements. Standard measurement practices are executed for establishing repeatable reference points and crush measurements. Details of specific contact points are recognized for PDOF determination and contact orientation during primary and secondary (if applicable) contact.

Exemplar vehicles are located and documented. A typical exemplar inspection is utilized to duplicate reference points and crush measurements from the accident vehicle. Crush diagram overlays are excellent tools for showing permanent deformation, occupant area intrusion and damage severity.

Damage Documetation with Total Station

Damage documentation with total station is an advanced methodology for ultra precision and clarity. This method is typically utilized to provide a better understanding of the collision severity and the mechanisims of injury to the subject occupants.

We start by identifying the "points" we want to record by applying an adhesive dots to specific locations on the vehicle. We then "shoot" the point with a reflectorless total station. Refer to the images below showing an example of an exemplar GMC pickup and the corresponding scaled drawing.

Damage profiles can be generated at multiple levels and provide location specific explanations for occupant sustained injuries. Interior points can be collected to illustrate occupant compartment intrusion for various hard points. Typical data collected include (but are not limited to) roof crush, A-pillar deformation and dash movement.

Roll-over markings are illustrated in size, direction and order of occurrence.

Exhibit-A technicians are trained in performing commercial vehicle air brake inspections including: leak detection, apply and release stroke measurements, recharge rates, brake sizing and brake effectiveness.
